GHIO. On June 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, to Krista Pisani Bencini and her husband Antonio, God’s precious gift of a first-born son – MAXIMILIAN. Thanks be to God, the Holy Virgin Mary and St Pio of Pietrelcina.

Dr PAUL GONZI, LL.D. and Dr BERTA PISANI BENCINI, LL.D.

Geoffrey and Mariella Pisani Bencini proudly announce the marriage on July 2, 2011, of their younger daughter BERTA to PAUL, son of the Honourable Prime Minister, Dr Lawrence Gonzi and Mrs Kate Gonzi. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Canon Michael Agius, BA, Lic.D. at the parish church of the Assumption, Gudja. Fr Vince Micallef, OP, Fr Anthony Cilia, SJ, and Fr Charles Cini, SDB, concelebrated. The bride, radiant in a gold Chantilly lace wedding gown, was accompanied down the aisle by her father Geoffrey Pisani Bencini and was attended to by her cousin, Dr Anndrea Moran, LL.D. Dr Neville Gatt, LL.D., Dr Krista Pisani Bencini, LL.D., the bride’s sister, Dr David Gonzi, LL.D. and Mrs Mikela Smith La Rosa, the groom’s brother and sister, witnessed the marriage ceremony. Dr Trevor De Giorgio, LL.D. and Dr Antonio Ghio, LL.D., the bride’s brother-in-law, were best men. Master Thomas Gonzi, the groom’s nephew, was ringbearer. After nuptial Mass, the bride and bridegroom celebrated their marriage with their bridal party and numerous guests at an enchanting evening reception held on the lawn at the Inquisitor’s Palace, Girgenti. The couple are currently on honeymoon in Malaysia.

The marriage took place on July 15, 1951, at Mosta parish church. Fr Anthony Muscat officiated the ceremony. Congratulations from your children Doreen and Ray, Audrey, Brigitte and Reno, Herbert and Annette, Jeffrey, grandchildren Andrew, Brian, Francesca, Nicholas, Alex and Matthew. Obituary

AQUILINA. On July 16, at St James Hospital, DORIS, née Muscat, aged 63, went to meet the Risen Lord comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Lawrence, her sons Kevin and his wife Ruth, and Johan and his wife Chantelle, her grandchildren Charlene, Yunice, Rebecca and Ella, her brothers Lino and Manwel and their families, her brother-in-law Manwel, her niece Ruth and her family, other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass presente cadavere will be held at St Venera parish church tomorrow at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Equal Partners Foundation, Floriana, would be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors at home.

PACE BONELLO. On July 16, at Mater Dei Hospital, VITTORINA, known as Rina, aged 86, of Żurrieq, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Henry of Canada, Brian and his wife Jane, Anna and her husband Bernd Ritschel, her grandchildren Christine, Marlene, David, Devin and Tara, her sister Ida Hurle-Hobbs, her in-laws Antoine Pace-Bonello and Blanche Pace-Bonello, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Żurrieq parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to St Clare’s Monastery or Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant her eternal rest. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors at home.
