Two men were injured last night in the third hit-and-run case in recent days.

One of the men, a 62-year-old from Qrendi, was repairing a puncture while the other, aged 25 from Mqabba, stopped to see if he required assistance. A Mazda suddenly drove by and hit both of them.

The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. at Triq Is-Sejba in Mqabba.

The two men suffered fractures while a 61-year-old woman suffered shock  but was otherwise unhurt

A 21-year-old man from Qrendi turned up at Zurrieq police station with his father at about 3 a.m. and admitted that he had been the driver of the Mazda.

The police are investigating.

This was the third case of its kind after the hit-and-run case in Qawra, where an elderly British woman was killed, and another case in Sliema, where a foreign boy was injured.

Arraignments have been made in both cases.
