Belgian champions Genk an-nounced yesterday that their 19-year-old goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has agreed to join Chelsea on a five-year contract.

“We received an enormous offer that gave us no choice but to let our goalkeeper leave,” said Genk director Dirk Degraen.

“But I have mixed feelings about this transfer: we wanted Thibaut to stay a bit longer.”

According to Belgian media, Chelsea have paid nine million euros to acquire the goalkeeper who is a full Belgium international and under contract with Genk until 2014.
