The new MSV Life National League champions are okmalta.com.

They secured the coveted title with a week to spare after opening up an unassailable lead over the other three contenders in the cham-pionship round.

okmalta.com enjoyed an outstanding Division One campaign, leading the pack for much of the 18-week, two-round regular season.

However, the title issue was still wide open as okmalta.com started their championship round commitments only four points ahead of rivals Ramis in second (112-108), while the once-feared Fina were third on 100.

Royal Shock also gained a place in the championship round on 89 points.

They were okmalta.com’s first championship opponents and the latter cruised to an easy 8-0 win while Ramis went down 6-2 to Fina.

These results increased okmalta. com’s lead over Ramis to 10 points (120-110), with a further 16 points to play for.

The title race was then decided with one week to spare as okmalta.com sealed the issue in the penultimate match after a 6-2 success over Fina.

Ramis also collected six points from their clash with Royal Shock, meaning okmalta.com had an unassailable 10-point lead, ren-dering the final week’s matches a mere formality.

Those ended up with a 6-2 win for the new champs against runners-up Ramis while Royal Shock obtained a 7-1 victory over Fina.

The final Championship Pool standings were okmalta.com 132 points, Ramis 118, Fina 109 and Royal Shock 98.

Meanwhile, okmalta.com are already back in competition along with nine other top-flight teams as the new season is now underway at the Eden Super-Bowl.

Keen to make a solid start to their title defence, okmalta.com share top spot with Fina after both claimed eight points from their matches against HSBC and Ramis respectively.
