An estranged husband who attacked his wife’s lover inside a popular confectionery shop in front of shocked customers will have a pre-sentencing report drawn up focusing on anger management issues.
Magistrate Miriam Hayman ordered the special focus report after Alexander Maggi, 45, from Ħamrun admitted to attacking Mario Borg and his son Derrick on Wednesday at about 1.30 p.m. at Santa Luċija confectionary in Attard.
Mr Maggi pleaded not guilty to breaching a previous protection order when he attacked the pair, breaching the conditions of a previous release and committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term and relapsing. The pre-sentencing report was requested by defence lawyer Anġlu Farrugia. The magistrate granted Mr Maggi bail, until the report is drawn up, against a personal guarantee of €10,000 and a deposit of €500.
She sternly warned the accused that the victims were under a protection order which meant he could not speak or communicate with them in any way.
