The Daleks appear to have fallen through a crack in the space-time continuum – trundling pastthe UK  Parliament almost half a century after viewers first saw them conquer the earth.

The evil beings were wheeled out to re-stage a famous scene from a 1964 Doctor Who adventure on London’s Westminster Bridge.

Four generations of Daleks – showing how the creatures had evolved over the years – were wielding their power on the deserted road.

Show boss Steven Moffatt said recently that the Daleks were being rested from the BBC1 sci-fi drama, but the various models are on display at The Doctor Who Experience exhibition, being staged at London’s Olympia until November.

The original images of the Daleks taking over London appeared in the 1964 story with original Doctor William Hartnell.

The new invasion took place 153 years before the TV version is even due to happen as the original programme was set in the year 2164.
