More medicine prices reduced
The price of more medicines is being reduced by up to 64 per cent, the Parliamentary Secretariat for Fair Competition announced.
The secretariat said that people suffering from arthritis, rheumatism, depression or anxiety were among those who would experience substantial reductions in the price of their medicine.
In all, the price of 18 medicines is being reduced, bringing the total number of medicines being sold cheaper in the past 12 months to 162.
The prices could be reduced following the intervention of Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said.
The secretariat said that in two instances, the savings being announced today were of more than 60 per cent. Five medicines were being reduced by more than €15 and two by more than €20.
The new prices reflect the average European rates for the same medicines. They apply to medicines pharmacies would have bought at the new rates.
Further information can be obtained from 2144 6446 Mondays to Fridays between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., e-mail: medicines@gov.mt.

Sir, allow me to ask if this is not in answer to last Sunday paper?
Last Sunday Times of Malta carried a letter that one item went up. I did follow it by writing on the Times.com that the last price reduction was 4th January 2011 followed with another list on April 18, 2011.
It shock me to find as an example: <FOUR TABLETS cost 36.19 NOW 12.88>.
I guess if someone had to steal 23 euros police action will be appropriate. Is there no price control? Who is over charging? Is that all there is Hon. Minister, just post the new prices and everything will be forgotten?
These are fellow humans being that are being exploited and their guilt is they need these medicines!

The Parliamentary Secretariat for Fair Competition announced a price reduction for the erectile dysfunction drugs - Levitra 5 and 10mg Tabs. Just for the records, this was an arbitrary desicion taken by Bayer Healthcare worldwide and through some divine intervention from the parliamentary secretary.

One realises how much they were robbing us when one sees the amount of reductions. is that correct?

Look up info on Levitra (60% reduction in price). A lot of politicians don't really need to use it as we know they don't suffer with that condition, especially where it has to do with our wallets!
