A man who admitted he attacked his wife's boyfriend and his son at a confectionery last Wednesday was this morning granted bail until a pre-sentencing report is drawn up.

The report, which has to have a focus on anger management issues, was ordered by the court for Alexander Maggi, 45, of Ħamrun.

He admitted to attacking Mario Borg and his son Derrick at Sta Luċija confectioners in Attard in a shop full of customers.

Mr Maggi pleaded not guilty to breaching a previous protection order and the conditions of a previous release, committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term and relapsing.

Defence lawyer Anġlu Farrugia asked for the pre-sentencing report and evidence that his client had relapsed.

Mr Maggi was granted bail until the report is drawn up against a personal guarantee of €10,000 and a deposit of €500.

Magistrate Myriam Hayman warned Mr Maggi that Mr Borg and his son were under a protection order so he could not speak or communicate with them in any way.
