More than 1,000 volunteering hours were pledged in less than two weeks in an ongoing auction by Greenhouse Malta.

The independent organisation is made up of University students supported by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS).

The event, Project Volunteer Auction, kicked off at the end of June. The aim is to raise awareness about volunteering opportunities and encourage people to start volunteering.

Instead of pledging money, people were asked to bid on artwork by declaring the number of hours they were willing to dedicate to volunteering. In less than two weeks, more than 100 people registered and over 1,000 volunteering hours were pledged.

The auction has been extended until this Sunday.

People can view the artwork, check out the volunteering opportunities available and bid online on www.greenhousemalta.com.
