Two inquiries will be carried out into the forced landing of a plane in Gozo in which a flight instructor and his student were injured on Monday.
The European Pilot Academy said yesterday it would be conducting an internal inquiry, adding it had been informed that Transport Malta’s Civil Aviation Directorate would carry out its own investigation.
The accident occurred at about 3 p.m. when the light aircraft, a single-engined Tecnam, was carrying a fully qualified 25-year-old approved flight instructor and his 32-year-old student undergoing training.
The plane was shattered in the forced landing close to L-Għadira, limits of Kerċem.
Both pilots were admitted to the Gozo hospital suffering from slight injuries, including bruising and an injured shoulder.
The police had originally said the two were grievously injured.
The men were released from hospital yesterday. The academy did not name them and neither did the police.
An academy spokesman said the flight was being carried out in accordance with the normal training syllabus and the aeroplane was on a routine training flight.
There was no malfunction with the aeroplane systems or engine reported by the pilot, the spokesman added.
