Brad Pitt could be heading to Cornwall next month to shoot scenes for his new film, the zombie blockbuster World War Z, according to reports.

Officials in Falmouth say they are discussing the logistics of the shoot in August with the film’s maker, Paramount Pictures, which is believed to involve filming on a boat off the Cornish coast.

Scenes have already been shot in Malta, where Mr Pitt, 47, was joined by wife Angelina Jolie and their children last month. And reports at the weekend suggested he will also film scenes in Glasgow.

Richard Gates, Falmouth’s town manager, told the Western Morning News he had been in discussions with Paramount’s location and casting crews to work out the logistics of shooting in the town.

He told the paper the filming would create an “almighty buzz”.

“This is a major coup for Falmouth and we’re pulling out all the stops to prepare for the influx of crew and cast,” he said.

“We’ve been working closely behind the scenes with Paramount Pictures and are working hard with regards to the necessary planning and permissions.”

The film is based on Max Brooks’s 2006 novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, which is set in the US city of Philadelphia in the aftermath of a war between humans and zombies.

The film is due to be released next year.
