How right Fr Mario Attard was in his interesting article Conscience Of The Catholic Politician (July 2). His concluding statement that to reject divorce is a question of moral principles not of judgements of fact on practical matters hits the nail on the head.
I can assure Jesmond Mugliett, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and the other Nationalist Party champions of divorce that they may as well not contest the next election because I, for one, intend to single out those candidates who go against their supposed moral convictions and their party’s beliefs and traditions.
Contrary to what Mr Mugliett believes, he should share the preoccupations of the majority of the Catholic population because, as their representative, he should make the same considerations in his decisions.
It goes without saying that all those MPs within the PN who will vote in favour of the Bill this month should be concerned that they will definitely be put in a very negative light.
