This site, which has been protected since 2001 as a Nature Reserve, includes four huge English oak tress (ballut), trees that are very rare in the Maltese islands.

These English oak trees have trunks measuring more than one metre in diameter. Mepa declared this site as a Tree Protected Area on May 24, in accordance with the provisions of the Trees and Woodlands Protection Regulations (2011) as per Government Notice number 473/11.
