To celebrate the opening of the first Intercontinental hotel in Portugal, the Intercontinental Hotel, St Julian’s, like the rest of the hotel chain worldwide, recently treated guests to a glass of port or a classic Portuguese cocktail made from freshly squeezed orange juice with a dash of grenadine together with grilled sardines at its Al FrescoGardens Restaurant.
Over 350 bottles of port and more than a tonne of sardines were delivered to 19 Intercontinental hotels to celebrate the opening of Intercontinental Porto-Palacio das Cardosas. The hotel will open its doors on Thursday.
Port and sardines are part of the Portuguese culture. Grilled sardines are served at the biggest festival on June 13, St Anthony’s Day.
