Students following the University’s B.Ed. (Hons) Nutrition, Family and Consumer Studies course recently set up stands at the Farmers’Market, Ta’ Qali.
The students prepared healthy snacks, such as stuffed hard boiled eggs, strawberry and peach smoothies, and tomatoes stuffed with ricotta and presented them on their stands to promote healthy and sustainable living, while emphasising local and seasonal foods, as well as physical activity.
A leaflet about home economics was distributed together with a selection of other healthy leaflets by the Department of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and by the Ministry of Resources and Rural Affairs’ Naturalment Malti series.
Visitors were also encouraged to tour the stands and take part ina quiz .
