Rehearsals are in full swing with less than two days to go before Joseph Calleja takes centre stage for his annual summer concert at the Granaries, Floriana, this Saturday.

Malta-born maestro Charles Olivieri-Munroe will conduct the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra for the concert that brings together Mr Calleja, Italian pop icon Lucio Dalla and New Zealand-born starlet, Hayley Westenra.

Mro Olivieri-Munroe has conducted some of the world’s finest orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic, the Czech Philharmonic, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Deutches Symphonie-Orchester, the St Petersburg Philharmonic and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Rehearsals for the 250-strong HSBC Children’s Choir have also been taking place under the guidance of soprano Gillian Zammit. The choir made its first public appearance during Mr Calleja’s summer concert in 2009.
