Puel: Former Lyon coach Claude Puel is seeking around five million euros in compensation after being sacked by the French club last month. Puel’s lawyer Guy Reiss confirmed yesterday that his client is seeking over one million euros in damages as well as 3.3 million euros which Puel claims he is due for the final year of his contract.
Aliadiere: French striker Jeremie Aliadiere signed a one-year deal with Lorient with an option for three extra years, the Breton club announced on Tuesday. Aliadiere, 28, left early in his career for England to play under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, and went on to appear for West Ham, Wolverhampton and Middlesbrough, and also Celtic for two months.
Fans released: Argentinian police on Tuesday freed 37 Uruguayan fans detained following scuffles in the wake of Monday’s Copa America draw with Peru. The arrests came after the fans, some of whom had been drinking, began throwing stones as they left the Bicentenario stadium after the 1-1 draw.
