I am annoyed, no, very annoyed to read The Times on Monday morning in respect to Arriva.

I assume that when the drivers were employed by Arriva they entered into a clearly written contract, which is the normal way in any civilised country and which would have clearly laid out the terms of employment with Arriva.

To not turn up for work on the allotted day reneges on that contract. Arriva would then have every perfect right to cease the employment of any individual if they abused the contract with them.

According to the media, agreement has been reached between the unions and Arriva. Surely it is only if this agreement is not adhered to by Arriva that action could be taken

Obviously, as a mere member of the public, I am not aware of what the contract with Arriva actually stated.

We have or had the beginning of a new transport system that will enhance this island of ours, an island of which I am proud as I am also with a delightful and caring population spoilt by the narrow-mindedness of just a few.
