Snoop Dogg: I'm a superstar...You gotta wait

Hip hop legend Snoop Dogg said today that he appreciated being welcomed "with open arms,” when he arrived in Malta, saying the island has a “beautiful atmosphere”

But he lost it when he was asked why he had left reporters waiting for a total of four hours over two days before he showed up.

“Well nigga, you wait for another four hours, that’s what it is when you’re dealing with a superstar, you gotta wait, now, you just f****** your question up, get your ass outta here,” the hip hop artiste said when asked why he didn’t show up to a press event where journalists, Maltese and foreign, had waited for two hours yesterday and close to another two hours today.

Earlier on, he said he was inspired by “people” such as the 50,000 people expected to turn up at tonight’s Isle of MTV concert, which is set to feature collaborators Far East Movement along with LMFAO and Parade.

Snoop Dogg is not a punk he is a rapper. Punks are nicer people and are more relevant to the world.

@C Busuttil : " ara vera hawn min jifrah bix-xejn biex tifrah b'snoop dogg. GET A LIFE ". Jekk int et isejahlu " bix-xejn " lil Snoop Dogg, ala ma tamilx bhalu u issir miljunarju 'BIX-XEJN'? :)

@Joe Fenech : andek zball. Rap = Rhyme & Poetry. "verbal diarrhoea" is what comes out of your mouth unfortunately. "basic music cut and pastes" like I said to Mr C Busuttil, try to do it yourself, I'm sure your really talented by the way you speak :)

@Carmelo Portelli : "LOL "Diss" hehehe you think you are Snoop now?" I had to save the best for the last !! Dear Carmelo, "Diss" is a shortened version of "disrespect" JUST LIKE LOL IS A SHORTENED VERSION OF LAUGH OUT LOUD :)

So ironic right ?

Great show Snoop ! Nice of you to mention your old mates like Tupac Shakur & Nate Dogg. Hope they rest in peace.

And before anybody tries to assume what my music tastes are, Hip Hop & Rap are not my first choice. I'm into the clubbing scene !

Peace

Actually thsi man is popular precisely a) because of the media b) because he is American c) because English is, at least at the moment, the world language in business and communications. From the media's point of view criminality is an added attraction especially to middle-class teenagers at a difficult naive stage.

With many American cities becoming more Spanish-speaking, with countries like China now having more gleaming skyscrapers, the longest bridges, the fastest trains, the newest airports, motorways, the 5 largest banks in the world and finacially giving the US life-support and expected to have three times as many Internet users as the US in the next 3 years the days of American "Big Names" and "Superstars" activating the "fan hormones" of teenagers in places such as Malta are drawing to a close. There is a sequence Production, Wealth, Media, Marketing, captured Punters in the fabrication of "Superstars" and the Marketeers certainly know how to activate teenage hormones

RAP itself is a stupid genre and a symbol of the situation of the decadents black community and it's problems (this is not Blues or Motown). Rap is nothing but verbal diarrhoea added to copied and pasted music fragments. It's poor music for a certain kind of poor listener!

Mr T Zahra

Imagine to be given the opportunity to interview someone important ... would you leave Mr Ian B? Instead of being rude, he should have phoned to cancel, or is that too hard for the doog to do? Thought he was competent enough. What he did was rude, plus abusing his power.

Would you like to have a meeting with your boss and end up staying there for 4 hours? (you might lose your job if you're not there when he's there)

Respect is for everyone be you tall, short, dark skinned, light skinned, poor, rich or a mental patient!!! Having money does not give you the right to be disrespectful!!!!

ruth klotzer

Jul 1st 2011, 08:54

so? would it have been such a big deal to give a slight explanation instead of being disgustingly rude?
a superstar who's been banned entry in certain countries!

I think he would fit perfectly into our schools. Have you actually listened lately to the rubbish our kids present when opening their mouth? Teacher are a joke these days and kids get backed up by laws so they don't have to behave and do not show respect anymore. Don't point to others if the mess is right infront of our doors.

Paul Busuttil

Well said. What a stuck-up fool.

I have been a staunch Iron Maiden fan for the past 20 years. When they came to Malta in 1998, I was lucky enough to be at the golf club when Nicko Mc Brain and Dave Murray came for a round of golf. Not only were they really friendly with everyone, they posed for pictures, bought us drinks and had a few lengthy chats with everyone in the bar. On the night of the show, I could see all the members of the band watch the supporting band with gusto, giving each other nods of approval and having a brief chat with the members of the supporting band before they came on stage to bring the place down in true maiden fashion.

Very similar to snoop doog eh!

Paul Busuttil

Jul 1st 2011, 15:25

Well you did mention Iron Maiden, why do you think they have such a world wide following?

Therese Ellul

Jul 1st 2011, 12:12

To Yanov Cutajar: re "You wait, you need them, they don't need you." - You are wrong. It is the media which makes or breaks a superstar. Ok it may not be the local media to do so, but if such arrogance is exhibited elsewhere, he would not be spared the might of the pen. he is a 'superstar' because the media made him so!

Mr John M Grima

He is not a going to solve the world's problems and wars, so his interview was not much of an importance either...he hasn't got anything interesting to say either apart from using the F word and calling opeople nigger!!!!

Yanov Cutajar

Jul 1st 2011, 19:34

@ John Grima
Enlighten me, what do I have to learn? What does Australia have to do with my point? Australia, Japan, UK... What, is a country going to change this person's attitude and the fact that he's famous for his music and gangster attitude? (Not that I like his music or approve of his attitude, I just find it amusing.) Since you want to play the country game, do his fans from down under agree with what you have to say? Also, check out this article. Seems like Snoop Dogg is quite a nice guy if you let him, even though the Government kicked him out, he's not bad-mouthing you or dissapointing his fans.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/confidential/rap-star-snoop-dogg-thanks-australian-fans-for-supporting-him/story-e6frf96o-1226039747539

@ J lanzon
Cheers.

@Jesse Galea
I don't think people like Snoop Dogg just up and become superstars through media and newspapers alone, they pretty much do it through music and movies. Maybe to you his words mean nothing, but to newspapers his words mean money, since people buy the news to read what he's got to say, whether it be rude or not. So yes, he is pretty much doing them a favour, Jesse and yes, they should be grateful.

It is such a shame to name our reporters 'disrespectful' by the way these are Maltese and we should be proud of our reporters. If he is a gangsta therefore he is not in the proper ambient, if he wants to keep his image first he has to learn how to respect the people around him (if he knows how)
