Not content with what it has, the Midi consortium has applied for further construction of high-rise blocks in the already overdeveloped Tigné area: more traffic, noise pollution, air pollution and horrible visual impact, with no respect at all for the residents of the area. The Malta Environment and Planning Authority should dismiss the proposed extensions immediately.

Environmental impact assessments have to be done holistically, taking into account the cumulative impacts of the Midi, Fort Cambridge and Townsquare projects.

Finally, a sacrosanct principle should be established once and for all: the rights of the residents should prevail over the greed of the developers.
