As expected, Floriana FC confirmed Johann Said as president for the second year running at the end of a committee meeting held earlier this week.
In his debut season, Said led the Greens to dizzy heights including victory in the FA Trophy final.
So, it was no surprise that it was unanimously agreed to have him at the helm for a second successive term.
Hugh Peralta and Julian Holland, two former Floriana FC administrators, were named as the two vice-presidents but the appointment that really caught the eye was that of Frank Camilleri, the new club secretary.
Camilleri has just ended a long 19-year stint at the Malta Bas-ketball Association where he also occupied the post of general secretary.
At Floriana, he replaces his nephew Matthew Paris, who did not seek re-election, and joins his son Mark Victor and another nephew, Damian Camilleri, in the committee.
Mark Victor is the Marketing and Media Officer and Damian retains his post as Finance Officer.
“I had no particular plans after leaving the basketball associa-tion,” Frank Camilleri told The Times yesterday.
“In my mind I was only thinking about a long summer break but then my relative Matthew Paris introduced me to Johann Said and after discussing matters I accepted to take the post if I was elected.
“The club president has a clear vision and if his ideas are im-plemented Floriana will become more competitive and aiming for higher goals in future.
“This will be my first experience in football and I’m happy to do it with Floriana, my hometown club.”
The other members in the committee are Peter Agius, Lyton Debattista, Mark Frendo, Keith Galea, Anthony Stellini, Matthew Carbone and Sandra Sammut Hili.
Meanwhile, the club is already planning on Floriana’s partici-pation in the Europa League where they were paired with Cypriot side AEK Larnaca in the second quali-fying round.
The first game is scheduled at the Hibs Stadium on July 14 with the return leg in Larnaca a week later.
The match at Corradino will be played at 7.30 p.m.
The price for match tickets will be €25 for adults. Children (12 years and under) enter free if accompanied by an adult.
