Some time in spring of 2011, some of the railings along the Buġibba-Qawra promenade were removed, presumably to be vulcanised and given a fresh coating of green paint. As temporary barriers, wire fences, which would fit as an enclosure for farm animals, were put up. In the process, 12 benches were made inaccessible to the public.
Months have passed and the railings have still not been fixed again. In the meantime, the wires of the temporary barriers are getting rustier and rustier, adding to the number of eyesores along this promenade. The strollers along are hoping that by summer of 2012 these railings with a fresh coating of paint will eventually be fixed again.
Is the local council of St Paul’s Bay happy with this situation?
This adds to the already overwhelming evidence that it cannot deal adequately with the problems of this area.
It is high time the Buġibba-Qawra area be given its local council.
