• Xewkija celebrates the feast of St John the Baptist today with concelebrated Mass by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at 8.15 a.m. The Victory Band of Xagħra and the Duke of Connaught’s Own of Birkirkara will play marches along the streets of Xewkija at 11 a.m.

• Celebrations marking the feast of St Peter and St Paul next Wednesday started in Nadur last weekend with an agrarian show.

Tomorrow, at 9.30 p.m., the Mnarja and St Gregory bands will take part in a demonstration with the statue of St Peter and St Paul, while St Joseph Band will give a concert at St Peter and Paul Square.

On Tuesday, Mgr Grech will lead the translation of the relic at 6.30 p.m. A fireworks display will be held at 9 p.m.

On Wednesday, Mgr Grech will lead pontifical Mass at 9 a.m. The procession with the statue of the saints will leave the basilica at 8 p.m. The Mnarja, Precursor and Ite Ad Joseph bands will take part.

• The Gozitan Graduates Movement will hold First Friday Mass at St Augustine’s church, Victoria, at 8.30 p.m. The sacrament of reconciliation will also be available.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will be holding a prayer evening at Santa Marta chapel, Victoria, on Saturday at 8.30 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• The Victoria Scout Group will be holding an open-air dinner at Sta Luċija on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets at €12 for adults and €5 for children can be obtained from the Scouts’ headquarters by calling 2155 6497 or 7939 8928 until Wednesday.

• The Xagħra Scout Group will be holding a barbecue at the Ramla Bay parking area on July 5 at 7.15 p.m. Tickets at €12 for adults and €6 for children can be obtained by calling Vincent Vella on 9922 1449 or Doris Sultana on 9943 3442 until next Sunday.
