Staff members from HSBC’s northern area branches recently teamed up with Nature Trust and Ekoskola and visited St Theresa College, Birkirkara, to raise awareness about the environment, with particular focus on the preservation of Malta’s national plant – the rock centaury.

HSBC staff gave a presentation about this endemic plant to the schoolchildren.

The presentation extended to tips on conserving the environment through recycling household waste using the Wormery approach – a technique which uses worms to turn ordinary kitchen waste into rich organic compost which can then be used as plant fertiliser.

After handing a donation to the college and to Nature Trust, HSBC staff members planted a number of rock centaury plants at Ta’ Qali National Park.
