St Francis Secondary School, Sliema, recently represented Malta in Science on Stage, the biennial European science festival, held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The school presented a project on the theme of energy sources and consumption in Maltese houses. It also linked to the Ekoskola programme and promoted good habits in the use of energy in the classroom.

This year’s festival was themed ‘Science Teaching: Winning Hearts and Minds’. It included several activities, all organised to fulfil the event’s aim of idea-sharing.

The event also aims to inspire European science teachers with ideas which can be used to motivate their students and to bridge the gap between different countries and methods.

The next festival will be co-hosted by Germany and Poland in 2013. Those interested in participating in the festival are to submit proposals by sending an e-mail to Chris Schembri at audschembri@nextgen.net.mt.
