‘Equality in the arts’ is the theme of two competitions and an exhibition targeting young artists.
The project is entitled VS/2010/0569 Think Equal and is organised by the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality.
The public (especially art students) is encouraged to produce works of art expressing concepts of equality and non-discrimination.
The competition and exhibition aims to encourage and stimulate self-expression and reflection on issues of equality and non-discrimination.
The competition gives photographers the opportunity to participate and submit photographs or a series of photos showing instances of discrimination or equality in practice.
The best photos will be exhibited locally. Organisers hope that the public will become aware of, and reflect upon, discrimination taking place locally though this initiative.
The exhibition aims to provoke the public by ex-posing real situations caught on film.
A selection of the entries will also be published as a desk calendar.
Art and photo submissions will be displayed at an exhibition which will travel to different locations.
The public together with an expert team will evaluate the submissions and reward the best ones.
The winners will be invited to attend an awards ceremony held during the Diversity through Music Concert.
The deadline for submissions is September 16 at noon.
