This year's Mnarja activies were launched in Valletta this morning with the traditional bandu, announcing the feast on Wednesday.

Celebrations continue on Tuesday and Wednesday and will include ghana – traditional folk singing, band marches, folkloristic dance, a Maltese traditional wedding and guitar music.

The feast of St Peter and St Paul, Mnarja is considered to be the most important date in the Maltese folklore diary.

The feast has become synonymous with traditional folk music and is an opportunity for farmers to show off their fresh produce and their animals.
