The Prime Minister has directed Air Malta to stop all freebies, including to serving and former Presidents and Prime Ministers.

Former Air Malta chairmen, board members and both serving and retired politicians were informed by the national airline's new leadership they would no longer be entitled to free flights as of July 1.

The move also applies to the chairman, Louis Farrugia, and the minister responsible for the airline Tonio Fenech.

The airline had planned an exception for serving and retired Presidents and Prime Ministers but Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Air Malta to stop these free flights to all those who had remained entitled to them.
