A man from Zabbar was caught red-handed early this morning when he tried to rob a sports shop in the Rabat road, Mriehel.

The man smashed the show window of 'Outta Kontrol' and tried to take money from the cash register as well as display items.

A quick-acting police patrol noticed the robbery and arrested the man.

The incident happened at about 4.30 a.m.
