A man was yesterday convicted of stealing from three cars and trying to steal from another two in Rabat as well as breaking into the town’s football club during April.

Aleksander Stojanovic, 32, a Serb living in Rabat, stole items from the cars he broke into as well as from a garage in Mdina, and took a CCTV camera from Ħamrun.

He received a two year jail term suspended for four years after admitting to the crimes. Magistrate Antonio Mizzi took into consideration his clean police record and early admission.

Legal aid lawyer Patrick Valentino appeared for the man.

Police Inspector Robert Vella prosecuted.
