Obituary
BALZAN. On June 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH, aged 82, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Joyce, his daughter Marica and her husband Dr Jason Azzopardi, MP, his in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Mary’s parish church (il-knisja l-qadima) Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
BORG CARDONA. On June 19, MIKELA, sive Lina, née Tufigno, widow of Judge Stephen R. Borg Cardona, aged 80, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son, Dr Stephen M. Borg Cardona, her brothers, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for Our Lady of the Assumption parish church, Attard, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, however donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, would be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
BUGEJA. On June 20, at Karin Grech Hospital, DORIS, née Caruana, of Żejtun, residing at Żebbuġ, widow of Anthony, aged 79, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Emanuel and his wife Rita, Rita and her partner Charlie, Sandra and her husband Emanuel, and Philip, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Hospital today at 3 p.m. for St Philip parish church, Żebbuġ, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Żebbuġ. CAMILLERI. On June 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, EMILY, née Chircop, of Attard, aged 67, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church, in the presence of her beloved husband Louis, her darling son Leon, relatives and members of the Marana Tha’ Community. Her loss will be treasured by her dear sisters Sr Carmela SJA, Georgina, Doris Amodio, her brother Alfred and his wife Lina, in-laws, Doris and Mario Abdilla, Alfie and Connie Camilleri, Edwin Lauri, widower of her sister Mary, nephews and nieces, her aunt Emma Martin and numerous and dear friends. A celebration Mass will be held tomorrow at 1.45 p.m. at Attard parish church, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be appreciated. The family would like to thank all the caring staff of Mater Dei Hospital for their support. Lord, grant her eternal joy.

Dr ALEXANDER GRECH, passed away peacefully, comforted through the ministry of the Church by the Eucharist and the Sacrament of the Sick, to the Father’s house to meet the Risen Jesus and enjoy the fullness of eternal life in the Spirit. He leaves to mourn his great loss his devoted wife Joyce née Consiglio, his son Fr Konrad, SJ, his daughters Hilary and Sr Benedict M. C. (Noella), his sister Maria, his in-laws, Dr Ramon Consiglio, MD and his wife Anne, Dr Francis V. Consiglio, MD and his wife Joan, Rosa, widow of Joe Consiglio A&CE and Mary, widow of his brother Victor, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St Augustine’s parish church, Valletta. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, give him eternal rest.

She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Rosette, Marcelle and her husband Antony Migneco and Cynthia and her husband Professor Uwe Piepgras, her grandchildren Marc and his wife Annabelle, Matthew and his wife Olga, Lea and her fiancé Claudio, Luca and Johannes, her great-grandchildren Andrea, Michela and Lana, her nieces Rosella Caruana and Ines Cassar, other relatives and friends. Diabetes seminar
The Maltese Diabetes Association will hold a seminar in its series of Living With Diabetes, on July 2 at the Catholic Institute, Floriana, at 9.30 a.m. The seminar will be addressed by Prof. Trisha Dunning from Australia and Anne Marie Felton from the UK. The public, members of the medical profession and medical students are urged to attend. Entrance is free and refreshments will be served.
Talk on renal disease
The Malta Pharmaceutical Association and the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery will hold an academic evening on July 1 at 8 p.m. at the Central Auditorium, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at Mater Dei Hospital. Professor Alan Lau from the University of Illinois, Chicago, will deliver a talk entitled Iron Deficiency Disease in Renal Disease Patients.
