Jean Claude Vancell has just launched his comeback single, Music Box, following an absence of two years from the local music scene.
The break between the previous release and Music Box was due to a lot of hard work that also led Jean Claude to a change in the style of his music. Produced by the artist himself, the new single combines an old-school beat with an infectious guitar riff and intricate vocals.
“I think I was too preoccupied with having my music played on the airwaves in the past. But now I decided that my new releases should sound just how I want them, so I decided to produce, record and mix them myself.
“The result is exactly what I want my music to sound like”, the musician said.
Music Box was inspired by the fusion of acoustic sounds and electronic synths. The lyrics are a lament to the way people tend to view life, urging the listener to be more free-spirited and to take life with a pinch of salt.
Mr Vancell’s previous release, two years ago, called Ain’t Good Enough, won him award nominations for the Bay Music Awards and the Malta Music Awards. Music Box can be requested on all local radio stations and be bought online from www.jeanclaudevancell.com.
