The abortion issue is an emotional one for most people. Since abortion has been legalised in many countries, millions of babies have been summarily murdered in the name of a woman’s choice, over 50 million in the US alone. We will never know if one of those babies would have grown up to discover a cure for cancer or any of the many fatal and debilitating diseases or even solve one of the many problems faced by humanity.

But let’s look at the arguments used by those in favour of abortion. The most common is that a woman should be free to do whatever she likes with her body – women should have a choice. Of course women do have a choice – they choose to get pregnant or not. That’s a choice that does not affect another human being. Women also have the right to do whatever they please with their bodies so long as what they do is not breaking any laws. But they should never have a choice to terminate a life just because it happens to be growing in them or because it inconveniences them. That’s murder, pure and simple.

Another excuse is that the woman may become pregnant as a result of rape. This happens but it’s not the baby’s fault. Why should the baby pay the price for a man’s crime? If the sentence given out to rapists were severe enough the crime of rape would decrease dramatically. But let’s look at the real reason for abortion instead. How many of the 50+ million of the abortions performed in the US were for rape victims? How many of the 51 abortions done on Maltese women were due to rape? I would hazard to guess a miniscule percentage.

Another excuse used by pro-abortionists is that it’s nothing but a collection of cells so what’s the big deal?

Of course this is far from the truth. Life begins at conception not when a baby is born. This was always the accepted truth until scientists pressured by a segment of the feminist movement changed the definition of when human life begins. One can look at many videos of sonograms that show the heart beating in a foetus or a foetus sucking its thumb to realise that it’s not a clump of cells but a human being. In many countries that allow abortion, some abortions are performed on unborn babies up to eight months old! Partial-birth abortions are legal in the US!

Another excuse is that a foetus would not survive outside the womb and therefore the foetus is not a human being. It is true that a foetus would not survive outside the womb but that doesn’t make it less human than you or I. A baby would not survive on its own if left uncared for either. Does that make it less human than you or I? Many people who are seriously sick would not survive if they’re not treated? Does that make them less human than you or I? Should anyone have the right therefore to refuse them care and treatment, or to kill them? Of course not. So why is it OK to kill an unborn baby?

Abortion has become a billion dollar industry with profit as the motivation for those providing it.

Abortion is not a women’s issue or a health issue. It’s a human life issue that we should all be concerned about.

Abortionists, those who assist with abortions, and the politicians who legalise abortion are all complicit in the murder of innocent human life. The blood of millions of aborted babies is on their hands. The culture of death must be stopped in its tracks and reversed or society is headed for big trouble. The viability of humanity is based on life and its protection not on death.
