Bharata Natyam Dance at Buskett tonight

Malaysian dancer Mavin Khoo, one of the world's leading Bharata Natyam Dance exponents, will take part tonight in the International Festival of Arts at Buskett.

Mavin has performed in many of the most famous theatres of the world.

He has danced, choreographed and collaborated with the New York Cunningham Studio, London City Ballet, Ballet de Zaragoza, Ballet de Regensburg, Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, UK National Youth Dance, Union Dance, Akademi, the Royal Ballet's Artists Development Initiative .

Accompanied by his long time musical collaborators, the London based Pushkala Gopal and Bhavani Shankar, his performance will thrill the audience – sited as it will be in the natural environment of Buskett, an ideal setting for Indian performance.

Booking is open at St James Cavalier, both at the box-office and online.

The festival, being held under the moonlight, features theatre, dance, music, and interdisciplinary events. It is being held to mark the launching ActionBase's new performance research studio. Featuring companies from Croatia, India, Italy, Malaysia, Malta, Poland, and the UK, all performances start at 9 pm. Two seminars will also be held on voice and dramaturgy.

Tomorrow: the third performance of the poetically beautiful STULTIFERA NAVIS... jew: Ow Wenn Di Sejnts Kam Sejnling In by John Schranz's Gruppi ghall-Inkontri tal-Bniedem

Thursday 23rd: FUSION – a performance with Joe Friggieri's poetry, Renzo Spiteri's percussion, Caroline Calleja's harp... in Vince Briffa's Digital Installation.

Friday 24th: Nathalie Mentha of Teatro Potlach in PER EDITH PIAF, on the life and times... and the songs... of the great French singer.

Saturday 26th: Ian Morgan, actor with one of Poland's top theatre companies, in FRAGMENTS FROM THE CLAY, a solo theatre performance in the making.

All performances start at 9 pm.
