The Lily Fireworks Factory of Mqabba engraved its name in the Guinness Book of World Records when its members lit the world’s largest Catherine wheel – with a diameter of 32 metres – on Saturday night.

The success ended a year of frustration after last year’s attempt had to be called off because of damage caused by strong winds. The previous record was held by an English fireworks factory which built a 27-metre Catherine wheel 12 years ago.
