Unfortunately, the south is still far behind although the rehabilitation of Cottonera is to be commended. One area in need of urgent rehabilitation is the Wied Blandun Gardens in Paola. No major works have been done on this park for many years. The pathways are decrepit, the water fountain has not worked for years and is used by some to dump litter and the playground is one of the most antiquated in Malta. The surrounding pathway is in a dangerous condition and the road alongside the gardens is in need of resurfacing. I don’t know if the Paola council or the government is responsible for this area but something should be done soon. We don’t have too many green areas in Paola but, at least, what’s left should be brought up to standard.
