Emirates Holidays is offering a 14-day tour of South Africa.
The itinerary takes the visitor on a safari in the world-renowned Kruger National Park and includes visits to traditional African craft markets in the Kingdom of Swaziland and the Tsitsikamma National Park, renowned for its ancient trees.
The tour culminates in the lively city of Cape Town, with ample opportunities to enjoy the variety of shopping, entertainment and culture it offers.
Johannesburg
Upon arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport transport is provided to the hotel, where the rest of the day can be spent relaxing or exploring the suburban shopping malls.
The following morning the tour departs for Pilgrim’s Rest, via the scenic route of Dullstrum, Lyndenburg and Long Tom Pass. Visitors will explore living history at Pilgrim’s Rest, the old mining village where gold was first discovered, and visit the Blyde River Canyon, one of the natural wonders of Africa.
On the fourth day before breakfast, an open safari vehicle will take tourists to the Kruger National Park, where lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinoceros and leopards roam freely in their natural habitat.
Swaziland and Zululand
On day five, tourists will be driven to the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland, a former British protectorate, now ruled by King Mswati III.
An overnight stay in the beautiful Ezulwini Valley will help guests unwind and admire the majestic African night sky.
The following morning the tour travels through lush coastal scenery to the Zulu kingdom. Tourists will be able to see Zulu dancers in the cultural village while passing through traditional round huts.
In mid-afternoon the tour will arrive at the town of St Lucia, a World Heritage site and home to hippopotamuses, crocodiles and no less than 367 bird species.
Durban
A cruise on Lake St Lucia is scheduled on the morning of day seven before departure for Durban, where transport to the airport will be provided for the mid-morning flight to Port Elizabeth.
Upon arrival, a tour through the indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest is listed on the agenda before reaching Knysna.
Knysna
On the ninth day, a cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon and a visit to the Featherbed Nature Reserve will provide guests with views of the imposing sandstone ‘Heads’ which guard the sea entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon.
The following morning the group will safari around the Outeniqua Pass en route to Oudtshoorn, the ‘feather capital of the world’, so named because it is the centre of South Africa’s ostrich industry.
Cape Town – Cape Peninsula and Cape Winelands
A full-day tour will allow visitors to experience the rugged beauty of Cape Peninsula via the Atlantic seaboard. Stop-offs are scheduled at the fishing village of Hout Bay, which is on the way to the Cape Point Nature Reserve, and Boulders Beach, home to a colony of penguins.
On the 13th day, the tour will journey through the tranquil Cape Winelands, visiting both Paarl and Stellenbosch.
The next day, transport is provided to Cape Town International Airport for the homebound flight.
