Vodafone Malta’s head of technology Sandro Pisani is to move to the group’s Egypt operation to take up the role of strategy director.
Vodafone said the decision fell under the brand’s exchange strategy where local talent is selected to move to different markets to achieve further know-how and experience.
In Egypt, Mr Pisani, an engineer, will report to chief executive officer Hatem Dowidar, a former CEO of Vodafone Malta.
Mr Pisani joined Vodafone Malta in 2001 as quality manager and was appointed chief strategy officer two years later. In 2007, he was named head of technology.
“Vodafone Egypt is a larger company than Vodafone Malta but certain challenges are the same, irrespective of whether the market is big or small,” Mr Pisani said.
Vodafone Malta chief executive officer Balesh Sharma said Mr Pisani’s appointment was evidence that Maltese talent was being appreciated globally.
A new head of technology at Vodafone Malta will be named in the next few days.
