Representatives of 11 firms joined a trade mission to Tunisia to assess the new business climate following the political uprising earlier this year.
The business delegation, led by Malta Enterprise and the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, with the support of Malta’s embassy in Tunis, followed the recent establishment of the Maltese-Tunisian Business Council.
Participating companies are involved in a wide variety of business sectors including renewable energy, electronics, waste management, education and training, chemicals and project management.
They were met by 43 Tunisian companies and held more than 80 pre-arranged one-to-one meetings to establish new contacts and follow up on leads.
The delegation also visited the Tunisian Investment Forum, the Tunis-Medindustrie Fair and the Fortronic Fair.
Earlier this week, Malta Enterprise signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tunisian Centre for Export Promotion to exchange information on trends and trade and investment opportunities in Malta and Tunisia.
A concrete action plan for the next two years will be discussed in a meeting in Tunis as Malta Enterprise prepares for a similar memorandum of understanding with the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency.
