If you’ve been to any one of Danjeli’s parties in the past, you’ll be familiar with the eclectic mash of sounds that is served up by this versatile DJ/musician and whoever else performs before or after him.
In his latest event, Party tal-Annimali, besides DJ sets from Carl Lautier and Mato (Perpendicular) and Danjlei as well as a live set from Acidmoths, will also feature acclaimed British DJ and producer Steve Milanese.
With a career that has its roots in the notorious party scene of the 1990s, Milanese has, over the years sought to explore new terrains in sound, setting some significant milestones along the way.
Being endorsed by Warp early on in his career automatically made him a name to look out for, something he further consolidated when he eventually released his debut album Extend via Mike Paradinas’ Planet Mu label.
There are many sides to Milanese, it seems, and besides his high profile in the electronic music scene, he’s also a talented multi-instrumentalist. He loves to invent his own unique instruments and is especially proficient at blending ‘mad beats and rumbling bass’ with other musical elements and criss-crossing a variety of styles that have, at different times and by different people, been described as intense, hard-hitting, complex and abrasive.
At its core, however, it is Milanese’s adventurous nature that emerges as the primary ingredient, a catalyst in the distinctive futuristic sounds he creates. Little wonder then that he is widely regarded on the scene as having pioneered of the dark side of Dubstep.
Party tal-Annimali will be held at Razzett l-Aħmar in Mosta on Saturday. For more information and ticket availability look up the event on Facebook.
