Triple Olympic gold medallist Stephanie Rice heads up Australia’s team at the Santa Clara International swim meet this weekend, a tune-up event for next month’s worlds in China.
Rice is part of the 15-member Australian team that will take part in the four-day competition which also features world class athletes Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, of the United States.
Rice and Olympic team-mate Emily Seebohm will square off against American world record holder Ariana Kukors and Hungarian Katinka Hosszu in the 200 metres individual medley.
Rice plans to swim in the 200m and 400m individual medley as well as the 100m and 200m butterfly.
“Stephanie has put some really good work at altitude and will benefit from racing against the likes of Kukors and Hosszu in the 200m IM,” said Australian coach Michael Bohl.
The worlds are scheduled from July 24-31 in Shanghai.
