The nine tumoli kitchen gardens at San Anton Palace in Attard were opened for the public after an 18-month project launched by President George Abela.

The garden has supplied the palace with vegetables since mediaeval times. A large area, however, had been in shambles until the launch of the rehabilitation project. The garden now has modern paving, new furniture, artistic lighting, a playing area and animal pens. It also has a cafeteria, the profits from which will go to the Community Chest Fund, which will tonight hold the annual Ġonna Mdawla event.

The President’s private gardens and the kitchen garden will be open for the public on the occasion.

Tickets are available from the Palace in Valletta and San Anton. Further information is available on 2122 6226.
