The finalists for the 2010 MFA Player of the Year Award were announced this evening.

There were a total of 12 nominations.

Four of the five finalists are Valletta players - Roderick Briffa who gained the maximum 12 votes in the first ballot, Jonathan Caruana (11 votes) Denni (seven) Gilbert Agius (seven) and Marsaxlokk's Gareth Sciberras (five points).

A panel of journalists and club representatives voted today. The outcome will be known on July 1. The votes will be calculated under a formula which also takes account the players' appearances in domestic competitions, appearances for the national team and their disciplinary record.
