Audi’s sole surviving car (picture) powered to a thrilling victory at the 79th Le Mans 24 Hour race, yesterday. After the R18 TDIs of Allan McNish and Mike Rockenfeller were involved in two massive shunts on Saturday, the sister car of Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassler and Benoit Treluyer fended off Peugeot’s challenge to secure the team’s 10th win at this event in the past 12 years. The winners completed 355 laps and finished some 14 seconds ahead of the Peugeot of Sebastien Bourdais, Simon Pagenaud and Pedro Lamy.
