The International Festival of Music and Dance is held in the exquisite setting of Granada’s Alhambra, the Generalife Gardens, monasteries and the cathedral.

It should have any serious music enthusiast booking the first available plane to southern Spain.

Around the famous Alhambra and all over the city the streets are filled with the sound of Spanish guitars, the click of castanets, the whirl of flamenco dancing and much more.

For the more refined tastes, there are orchestral concerts, opera performances and piano and organ recitals, while the young and young at heart are catered for by a Children’s Festival and Young People’s Music Festival.

The programme features around 40 shows. As well as the larger concerts in the Alhambra, there are performances in civic centres, chapels, churches, cafés and clubs throughout the city, which range from small classical ensembles to jazz and world music.

The nearest airport to Granada served from Malta is Seville. Fly there direct with Ryanair.
