Two charged with ecstasy trafficking

Two men from Qormi were yesterday charged with the possession of over 1,000 ecstasy pills after police found drugs hidden in a confectionery last Thursday evening.

Terence Cini, 25, and Steve Bazine, 19, were also charged with drug trafficking and conspiring to deal in the drug.

In addition, Mr Bazine was charged with the possession of cocaine and cannabis resin.

Both men pleaded not guilty.

In a statement issued last Friday, police said drug squad officers had been observing the movements of the men who they believed were trafficking drugs in the area.

Last Thursday night, following a search, police found Mr Cini carrying 150 ecstasy pills.

Police then searched several areas commonly frequented by the men, including a nearby confectionery. There they found about 850 pills in a plastic bag.

Mr Cini and Mr Bazine did not make a request for bail and were remanded in police custody.
