Motorists driving from Marsaxlokk to Bir id-Deheb often encounter long queues at the traffic lights that lead from Triq iż-Żejtun on to Triq Għar Dalam. These traffic lights only turn green for 10 seconds every 45 seconds. During these 10 seconds only three to four cars manage to move out onto Triq iż-Żejtun. To exit this junction one has to wait for a repeated number of light changes.

I am sure Transport Malta is aware that the most time lost at traffic lights is waiting for the line of cars to accelerate from a standstill.

By simply doubling both green time to 20 seconds every 90 seconds, at least four times the number of cars can move out from this junction.

I suggest that Transport Malta studies the programming of these traffic lights scientifically and corrects them to make them more efficient, and avoid unnecessary nuisance.
