• Today, Għasri marks the feast of Christ the Saviour. A pontifical concelebrated Mass, led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, will take place at 8.30 a.m. The Lauda Sion choir will take part. Horse races will be held in Għasri Street at 3 p.m. The procession with the statue of Christ the Saviour, accompanied by the La Stella band, will start at 8 p.m. An evening of music will take place at Saviour Square at 10.15 p.m.

• Xewkija council is holding Fiori D’Argenta, a festival of culture, history, drama and traditions, today. A horse defilé, with the participation of the Precursor Philharmonic Society, will start at 8.30 a.m., ending with the blessing of horses atSt John the Baptist Square, followed by an exhibition of cabs, coaches and carriages.

• The Marsa Scouts Pipes and Drums and the Marsa Scouts Corps of Drums will march through various streets at 6 p.m. and then meet at St John the Baptist Square, where they will give a show, followed by folk music by San Bert Folklor at 7.30 p.m. The festival comes to an end with the production of Ġrajjietna by Teatru Giovanni starting at 8.45 p.m.

• Fiera Familja will be held at Ta’ Dbiegi Crafts Village, limits of San Lawrenz, today from 11 a.m. Artisan shops will be open. There will also be a beer competition.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group will be holding a prayer meeting at the church of Our Lady of Pompeii, Victoria, today at 3 p.m.

• The Għarb council, in collaboration with Europe Direct, will present a live transmission of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca on a big screen at Pjazza Żjara tal-Madonna, Għarb, tomorrow at 8 p.m. Entrance is free. For more information, call the council on 2156 0556 or 7949 2667.

• John Paul II, the world’s biggest film production on the extraordinary life and ministry of Pope John Paul II during his second-longest Pontificate filmed in 13 countries which he visited, including Malta, will be premiered at the Aurora Theatre in Victoria on Friday at 8 p.m. Booking from the Aurora by calling 2155 9452.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will be holding a prayer evening at Kerċem parish church on Saturday at 8.30 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• The Gozo Kickboxing Club will be organising a kickboxing marathon at the Gozo Sports Complex in Victoria next Sunday from 10 a.m onwards in aid of the Arka Foundation. Kickboxing clubs from Malta will be joining in. The Tenchi Ryu Karate Gozo club will also take part.
