Christine Theuma Wilkins was recently awarded a Ph.D in clinical social work from New York University (NYU) Silver School of Social Work.

Her qualitative dissertation study focused on men with a history of violence towards their female partners and explored their understanding of their behaviour.

Dr Wilkins graduated with a social work degree from the University of Malta in 1995 summa cum laude and with a masters in social work from the University of Toronto in 1998, making it to the dean’s honour list.

Over the past years, she was awarded a Rotary ambassadorial scholarship and a Fahs-Beck Fund doctoral dissertation grant.

She currently lectures at NYU School of Social Work. She is also paediatric senior social worker and domestic violence coordinator at NYU Langone Medical Centre.
