The Pyrotechnics Association, which represents the fireworks factories, said today that it 'unreservedly deplored and condemned' the negative attitude being taken by the members of the Fireworks Inspectorate.
It also complained that it had taken six months for a meeting it requested with the inspectorate and the government, to take place.
In a statement, the association also repeated an appeal it made a month ago for the Police to uniformly apply the law, without creating undue obstacles, when permits for the letting off of fireworks are sought.
In some localities, the association, said, the police were imposing undue bureaucracy and making requests which were absurd not laid down in the law.
